It was a Monday.  Mondays don't usually bother me, but this particular Monday I needed a do over.  Two accidents in one day.  One involved a shopping cart, one involved an oblivious man who ran me off the road!

So the day started normal enough, get up way too early and take too long getting ready.  I drove through the start of freezing rain and pulled into the radio station parking lot, not a car in sight.  The parking lot appeared wide open.  That's why when I heard a "thunk" I thought something in the way back of my vehicle had tipped over, but I couldn't imagine what that would be.

After parking I got out of the car and saw what I hit.  A shopping cart!

The second accident had the potential for being very bad.  I was traveling on 39th Avenue West towards Wells Fargo and a man in a whitish Dodge pick-up with a red plow on the front was traveling perpendicular to me.  I looked at him and noticed he was traveling way to fast to be able to stop and if i didn't gun it I he was going to t-bone me.  Even with veering to the right and stepping on the gas I thought for sure he was going to nail my passenger rear quarter panel.

Well, he didn't, but he did run me up onto a curb, over a huge rock and almost into a telephone pole.  I ended up veering (again) to the right to avoid said telephone pole and that had me landing hard off another curb (see pic).  I came to a stop in the street and turned around to look at the truck, expecting to see it pulled over to see if I was alright.  NOPE, he had ventured on his way completely oblivious to the fact of what had just happened.  He HAD to be looking down at his cell phone or something to not see how close he came to hitting me.  I actually braced for the impact.

I followed him and he didn't act like he was trying to get away from me, never looked in the rear view mirror.  He didn't have a clue.  So, I was able to get his license number and followed him while talking with 911 until a couple cars got in between us and I had to stop for a light.

I got a call back from the Duluth Police Department and they said based on the license number I gave it was owned by someone from Virginia, MN and IF they could get me a phone number for him, they would.  Otherwise, there was nothing they could do.  Luckily, there isn't too much damage on my car (although we need to put it on the rack and check the underside closer) and while I'm sore from tensing up while curb jumping, it could have been a lot worse.

My guardian angel was riding shotgun (apparently all day!)
