It happens every new year, you have great intentions, you enthusiastically put together a list and then you get busy.  The list gets shoved under papers, you find it and stress a little because you haven't gotten to it and ultimately it gets forgotten.  Not this year, I'm here to help!  Here are 5 super easy things to get done and feel accomplished.

I blogged about the unique holiday cookie exchange that I did recently and everyone seemed to like the idea.  Well, here's another idea that I think is grand and wonder why it wasn't thought of sooner!  A holiday recipe exchange!  Thanks to the Duluth Public Library you can get some new recipes your family will love that has been tested and loved by another family.  Who wants to share?

The adventures of Harry Potter has been enjoyed for years and by all ages.  After a bit of a hiatus, Harry Potter made a huge comeback when the book "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" was released.  Now there's anticipation with the upcoming film release and the Duluth Public Library is getting in on the frenzy with a free event.

If you've been waiting for the perfect Duluth Huskies game to bring the kids to, this Sunday is THE one!  Several community entities have come together to provide our children with a day to remember and encourage our youth to love reading and books...

Winter break for many children in the Northland is the week of February 15.  Have you planned family fun events with your kids?  I know, it's hard to find things the whole family can do AND afford.  The Duluth Public Library has taken care of the planning for you and will be hosting several different events for all ages all week long.  The best part?  They're all FREE!

The Duluth Police Department has recently received several phone calls and messages on their Facebook page in regards to what they are calling an IRS scam.  They expect these type of annoying calls to increase as we near the tax deadline.  Here's what you need to know.

I'm excited about this book!  I have tried to journal in the past and it goes well for a couple of days and then I become a slacker.  Mayor Don Ness should be commended to have found the time within his busy work and family life to write this book.  I'm looking forward to his words catapulting me back to memories of our city I may have forgotten.

Ever wonder what the inspiration was behind some of country music's biggest hits? Well, now that information will be readily available. 'Nashville Songwriter: The Inside Stories Behind Country Music's Greatest Hits' will be released on Sept. 9 and includes the stories behind some some of country music's most-beloved tunes.

Ken and I are often asked to read to kids in a classroom setting.  It's fun for us to visit with the kids and interestingly we sometimes end up reading books that was read to US when we were growing up.  But, we can only cover so many classrooms.  If you volunteer your reading talents with Rolling Readers so many more Northland children will benefit.  Consider giving a bit of your time to the kids

I previously mentioned how if you're a fan of the World War Z book by Max Brooks, you shouldn't give up on the Brad Pitt movie.  Well apparently I was wrong.  The second trailer strays even further from the book, and this looks like a pile of crap.  I hate to say it, because I would have loved to see the actual story of the book made into a movie.  Not this one man saves the day kind of crap. About a month ago I blogged that the Duluth Public Library was looking for volunteers to restart their Home Delivery Service. .  Thanks to those that stepped up to the plate, the Service is about to begin and those who wish to use it need to apply now.

Remember when the bookmobile use to come to your neighborhood?  Ok, well...I don't.  We didn't have that service in the rural area of Wrenshall when I was growing up.  But, I did ride my bike to the Carlton Public Library in the summer, I loved reading!  The Duluth Public Library is starting a service reminiscent of the bookmobile, but will use volunteers delivering to shut-ins.  What a great idea
