Bayfield Winter Festival Set For March 3-5
Finding fun things to do in the winter makes the season seem to move along faster, so mark your calendar now for the Bayfield Winter Festival for a fun weekend that includes a crazy 5K.
The weekend of March 3-5, Bayfield, Wisconsin will be "celebrating snow, ice and cabin fever" during its 12th annual Bayfield Winter Festival.
According to organizers, events will kick off at 4pm on Friday, March 3, at Mt. Ashwabay (2 miles south of Bayfield) with a bonfire and fireworks. Youth lift tickets and rental will be available for $10. In Bayfield, enjoy a candlelight walk on the Big Ravine Trail and then stop in at The Creamery Bar for the Freeze Your Glass Off Party with door prizes, beer pong and live music beginning at 8 pm.
Saturday morning features more activities for kids at the Bayfield Area Recreation Center, including snowman building, an egg hunt in the indoor pool, and sledding on the street if there's enough snow. The Bayfield Polar Bear Plunge will also take place Saturday at 122:30 p.m. at the base of Rittenhouse Avenue.
Also on Saturday, March 4, is the Mt. Ashwabay's WinterDASH. This is a crazy 5K winter obstacle course with the motto "no gear - just guts". Participants will climb, crawl, carry, and scramble their way through 200 acres to the grand finale, a downhill tube ride to the finish line. WinterDASH starts at 3:30pm on Saturday, March 4.
Mt. Ashwabay is also offering a family tubing special during the WinterDASH, with a special buy one, get one free rate.
