Humane Society Issues Urgent Warning To Minnesota Pet Owners
This is low. Scammers are now hitting us where it hurts: our furry friends. Yup, there is now a scam involving your pets and it's going around Minnesota.
Here's a new scam to look out for. The Animal Humane Society, which has branches across Minnesota, shared details of this scam on Facebook on Tuesday (September 17th).
According to their post, animal lovers are being targeted as we speak with a new scam that has to do with lost pets.
How does it work? Simple! Scammers reach out to proud pet parents and tell them that their 'lost' pet has been found and needs emergency surgery.
Doing so creates a sense of major urgency for the pet owners who answer the phone. From there, scammers ask for payment information over the phone so they can 'perform the surgery' on said pet.

Obviously, this is a scam. With all of us posting photos of our sweet pets online - or even those that share posts if their pet goes missing - it isn't that hard for scammers to choose their next target.

How? Go to their website and see if your pet is listed as missing. If it's not on the website, this is likely a scam. Leave our furry friends alone!
