An Open Letter To Frozen Pizza Companies: Put Some Sauce On It!
I think it's safe to say a lot of us are eating frozen pizzas during quarantine. There's already reports of shortages of frozen pizza. Frozen pizzas last forever in the freezer and there is never a bad time to eat pizza. I may be wrong, but I feel like each year pizza companies are putting less sauce on their pizzas. I'm not going to name companies, but let's just say it's the national frozen pizza companies.
The other day I unwrapped a pepperoni pizza and they missed like a third of the pizza. A whole edge didn't have any sauce on it! I understand mistakes can happen, but when the pizza already doesn't have any sauce it makes it even worse.
Sometimes I'll try a new frozen pizza. Usually after a couple of bites, I throw my hands up in the air and with a mouthful of crappy pizza I ask, "WHY ARE THEY AFRAID TO PUT SAUCE ON IT?"
So here's what I've started to do. I'll buy a bottle of squeezable pizza sauce at the grocery store and keep it in my fridge. Then, i just end up dipping the pizza in the sauce so I can somewhat enjoy it. There's a saucy life hack tip for you.
I will have to say that local or regional pizzas do a much better job at saucing up their pies. Heggies, Kettle River, Brewpub pizzas, and some local places do frozen pizzas better than the national chains. I guess this is another reason to shop local.
I understand this is a silly rant, but maybe someone in a national frozen pizza company kitchen will catch wind of this.
