Wisconsin Man Sees Captain Marvel 116 Times, Breaks World Record
I love movies a lot but this is taking it to the next level.
A Wisconsin man has a new title: world record breaker! Why? Because he watched Captain Marvel 116 times. That is not an exaggeration.
According to a news outlet in Milwaukee, the man only needed to see the movie 104 times to break the record. The movie came out in early March.
What makes this story even better is that the movie-goer went to the same movie theater for every single viewing. Ha! (According to reports, the theater in question is no longer playing the film so he probably will keep his total viewing record at 116 times - unless he wants to break his own tradition.)
The record-breaker told other news outlets that he had to take time off work and even saw the film up to seven times in one day, focusing on things other than the main storyline to keep from getting bored.
The Marvel fan set out to break the Guinness World Record, as you probably assumed. It didn't just happen. As for why he chose this particular film now, he told CBS 58 in Milwaukee that he loves "superhero movies" so it was a good fit. He also said he knew it would be in theaters awhile because it was so popular.
If the super fan paid about 10 dollars per ticket and saw it as many times as he did, that means he spent about $1,160 seeing the film. This doesn't take into account any discounts he may have received. Wow!
He's gonna shake it up next time. He says if he attempts to break a world record again, he'll probably stick to a Disney film. Fair enough.
