Winter has *officially* started and that means it is about to get cold.

We got by for awhile with mild conditions, but the new season came at us with vengeance and now we are often seeing snow, ice and very cold temperatures. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, we can expect to see even more of that in the month ahead.

From the first of January through the 6th of the month, the Old Farmer's Almanac predicted snow showers and very cold temperatures. It is safe to say that prediction came through.

So what exactly can we expect for the rest of the month? Here's a breakdown of what January could bring:

From January 7th through the 12th, we can expect a period of snowfall followed by a period of sunshine and mild conditions.

January 13th through the 22nd will bring more snow and mild temperatures.

Beginning on January 23rd and continuing through the end of the month, we will see even more snow with cold temperatures returning.

If you need some good news after reading all that, note that the Old Farmer's Almanac predicts an average temperature two degrees above average, even if this only means an average of about 15 degrees.

We also won't see as much precipitation as usual.

The Old Farmer's Almanac makes weather predictions by region for the long term. Some believe in their methods and some don't but either way, it's fun to see what their predictions are and if they come true - coincidence or not!
