It's no secret - it has been absolutely brutal outside.

In fact, it has been so frigid outdoors that mail service was suspended Wednesday. The cold was more than extreme, with wind chill values dropping to 60 below at times. It was almost surreal.

It's safe to say 2019 came in swinging but will things finally calm down for February? That depends on whether or not you believe in the Old Farmer's Almanac.

If you do, this is what you have to look forward to, according to their breakdown of February:

From the 1st through the 3rd, we will see flurries with cold conditions.

From February 4th to the 8th, there will be periods of snow and cold temperatures.

February 9th through the 14th, expect flurries in the east with sunshine in the west. It will be mild.

Starting on the 15th, we will see more of the same with snow squalls in the east and more sunshine for the western part of the weather region. It will be cold.

On February 19th to the 21st, things will clear up with sunshine and mild conditions.

From the 22nd through the end of the month, snow will turn to showers with mild conditions.

Unlike January, we will see an average temp of about 15 degrees, which is three degrees above average. After that brutal January, I will take it!

Keep in mind, these are just predictions and must be taken with a grain of salt. The Old Farmer's Almanac makes weather predictions by region.

Whether you believe in their methods or not, you can't argue that they were dead on about the end of January.
