I've been to at least a dozen bachelor parties over the years.  I've even thrown a couple.   This last weekend was probably the best one that I've experienced because we are all now in our 30's.

When you hit your 30's, you gain that level of maturity that evaded you in your 20's.  When it came to drinking, we all could hold our liquor.  Nobody got sick, nobody got hurt, but yet we all drank plenty, just not overboard.  I can't tell you how many times in our 20's someone would go overboard and cause a problem in one way or another.

People actually have money.   When I was 21, I had a buddy get married and we all had to pitch in to throw the party.  WE WERE BROKE.   After paying for the hotel room at the casino, I had to gamble to get enough money to get gas to get home.  It was hard getting everyone to pay their share, and it was a huge obstacle to a great time.

When you are in your 30's, most of us have families, or at least a wife or girlfriend back home.  It's been just the right amount of time where we can still remember what freedom was like, but truly appreciate a night without them.  It's not that we don't love them, we just need a night with the guys.    As some guys said, "There's nobody here counting my beers, this is great!"

Maybe experiencing some of our more crazy, hectic, disastrous hangover style bachelor parties have made me appreciate the more recent ones.  You know, the kind where you don't lose anyone in the process.
