It will be 50 years this November since the Edmund Fitzgerald sank in Lake Superior, and all 29 on board were lost. The sinking of the flagship has been forever immortalized by Gordon Lightfoot's "Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald." The haunting melody and lyrics give me chills every time I hear it.

There's a special event that will honor the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald at Duluth's West Theater on Friday, October 3rd. It's called A Night Of The Fitz & Sea. It will feature a screening of the documentary 'A Good Ship And Crew Well Seasoned.'

The documentary was produced in 2015, and instead of focusing on what led to the ship sinking, it explores the history of the crew, the ship, and the impact on the families of the crew.

Following the screening will be a live performance by Home Free singing 'The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald.' They filmed a music video for the song on the William A Irvin in Duluth.

They'll also perform two more songs from their new album, Challenge The Sea. Every ticket purchase includes a CD or digital copy of the album.

You can get tickets online through Destination Duluth.
