According to the Weather Channel, most states will see warmer-than-average temperatures this summer.

The Weather Channel released their annual 2020 Summer outlook and overall, they predict the midwest, including Minnesota and Wisconsin, will see temperatures "near average or slightly warmer" throughout the summer season.

Here are a few other important things to note regarding The Weather Channel's predictions:

  • Wisconsin is predicted to see near or slightly above average temperatures through the month of May. Meanwhile, most of Minnesota will see similar conditions. Parts of northern Minnesota will see near or slightly below average temperatures, but that does not include Duluth.
  • By the time June rolls around, both Minnesota and Wisconsin will see near or slightly above average temperatures.
  • The same can be said for June, with Minnesota and Wisconsin both continuing to trend near or slightly above temperature-wise.
  • Things will change just a bit in August, when the southern half of Minnesota and most of Wisconsin trend above average with summer temperatures. Meanwhile, the rest of the two states, including Duluth and Superior, will remain trending near or slightly above average.

We will have to wait and see how these predictions take shape over the next few months. We never know what we are going to get when it comes to weather in the Northland.

Last winter, the Farmers' Almanac predicted that the winter season would be full of ups and downs, describing it as a polar coaster. It most certainly was so I am sure many are hoping the predictions above come true.

As for May, the month is usually when we see our last frost. According to the National Weather Service of Duluth, the last frost happens, on average, between the 11th and 31st. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen in June!
