Wearing A Mask Isn’t A Big Deal, Respect Essential Workers
Menards recently announced that they would be requiring customers to wear a mask if they enter their store. We shared the story and it didn't take long for a small group of people to comment about how our freedoms and our liberties are being taken away from us. Some people were so upset they said they would never shop at the store again.
Regardless of your political opinion with tempers rising with the lockdown, the way to protest this is not to be raising a fit about wearing a mask when you go to a store. Put on a cloth mask or cloth face covering. It's not about protecting you, it's about slowing and preventing the spread of COVID-19. The CDC recommends that face coverings be used in areas where social distancing is difficult to practice, such as grocery stores, pharmacies, and other public places.
All you need to do is wear the mask while you are in the store. It's not that big of a deal. Imagine having to wear a face mask all day long while working like the employees? Or imagine having to wear an N95 respirator as a nurse working a 12 hour shift taking care of the sick.
If you don't agree with the stay at home order, I get it. A lot of people are hurting right now financially. But if you are refusing to wear a mask when politely asked to, you're not being a hero. You're being selfish and disrespectful to essential employees who are going in to work amid a pandemic.
Wear a mask. It's about respecting the health and well being of other people.
