Fresh off the heels of a Class A Championship appearance, Hermantown's Blake Biondi has been named Mr. Hockey 2020. Biondi scored 47 goals and added 48 assists for 95 points in his senior campaign, with 10 goals and 9 assists in 6 postseason games this year.

Biondi was the only Twin Ports area candidate for the 2020 award. He was in the running for the award along with Jake Boltmann of Edina, Matthew Gleason of Cretin Derham-Hall, Luke Gramer of Moorhead, Wyatt Kaiser of Andover Blake Perbix of St. Cloud Cathedral, Carson Richels of Blaine, Nate Schweitzer of Benilde St. Margaret's, Grant Slukynsky of Warroad, and Ben Steeves of Eden Prairie.

Blake joins the following Mr. Hockey winners who call the Northland home:

  • Avery Peterson - Grand Rapids - 2014
  • Gino Guyer - Greenway - 2002
  • Aaron Miskovich - Grand Rapids - 1997
  • David Spehar - Duluth East - 1996

As Vintage Minnesota Hockey explains, "The Minnesota Mr. Hockey Award is given annually to the outstanding senior high school boys' hockey player in the state of Minnesota following the State High School hockey tournament. Since 1985, the Mr. Hockey Award winner is elected by a panel of National Hockey League Scouts, Junior Scouts/Coaches and select media members from around the state."
