USPS: Please Send Your Holiday Packages Early This Year
2020 is not the year to procrastinate. The United States Postal Service is asking everyone to send out their holiday gifts earlier this year than ever before.
They released the statement on Thursday (November 19th), asking that everyone send them out early as more people celebrate holidays without their family amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of the pandemic, the USPS is expecting "more holiday gifts and greetings" to be sent via mail this year.
Recently, the USPS released their holiday shipping guidelines, also encouraging everyone to head to their nearest post office and ship things out ahead of time to ensure the package is delivered on time. Now they are saying to head there even earlier so your family and friends can get your gift before the fact and not after.
According to the USPS, the busiest time for them is two weeks before Christmas, when procrastinators start to send things out last minute. As mentioned, more people are likely to be sending gifts this year in lieu of an in-person celebration so it's best to make things easier for you and the USPS and try to get things out even earlier than planned.

I am definitely a procrastinator so this was a helpful reminder for me not to wait until the last minute to send any far away family and friends a gift. While the USPS always encourages everyone to send out packages early, it is especially important this year.
Start your shopping and send out your packages early so you can relax in the midst of the busy holiday season.
