University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Jazz Band Holds Valentine Swing Dance
Looking for culture, dancing, big band jazz music? How about all that and it covers your plans for Valentine's Day? Yup, you can thank the University of Wisconsin-Superior Jazz Band for your romantic evening that includes a little swing dancing (only if you want too!).
I would love for my husband to take me to this. We both enjoy the big band jazz! I'm not sure if I'd feel comfortable swing dancing but I would certainly love to watch others that know what they're doing.
Picture this, a nice dinner with some ambience and quiet time together, then head over to Yellowjacket Union Great Room, 1605 Catlin Avenue on the UWS campus by 7:30. We're being promised big band classics by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basie and Woody Herman.
Now comes the added fun part that makes this night more than just a concert. Keith Miernicki of Twin Ports Dance is slated to be there giving free swing dance lessons that evening. You can learn for free and not with just piped in music, you'll be dancing to an honest to goodness jazz band! Of course, there isn't an obligation to dance, but if the spirit moves you, have at it. Relax, sit back, listen and watch or dance, the evening is yours to make it what you will. This is a unique way to celebrate your love together on Valentine's Day thanks to the planning of the UWS Jazz Band.
Tickets are very affordable at $5 for adults and $3 for seniors, of course UW-Superior students are free.
