UMD Earns #1 Seed In NCAA Men’s Hockey Frozen Four Tournament
The bracket has been announced for the 2019 Men's Hockey Championship and three Minnesota schools have earned a #1 seed, including the UMD Bulldogs.
According to StarTribune.com, it's the first time that three schools from the same state have earned #1 seeds to start a men's hockey championship tournament.
UMD will begin the defense of its national championship Saturday, March 30, in Allentown, Pennsylvania against Bowling Green. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
Should UMD defeat Bowling Green, they would next face the winner of the other Midwest semifinal, which features No. 2 seed Quinnipiac vs. No. 3 Arizona State. Those teams face off Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
The other Minnesota schools who earned #1 seeds include the #1 overall ranked St. Cloud State and Minnesota State. The remaining #1 seed was awarded to Massachusetts.
