Twins Pitcher Jake Odorizzi Named A.L. Player Of The Week
The Minnesota Twins are off to a hot start to the 2019 season and Major League Baseball is taking notice.
According to Twinsbaseball.com, Twins righthander Jake Odorizzi has been named American League player of the week after throwing 13 scoreless innings in games against the Houston Astros and New York Yankees, two powerhouse teams featuring tough lineups.
Through the press release, Twins manager Rocco Baldelli commented on the honor his performance:
"I don’t know if he could throw the ball any better than he has this week. He’s had some starts before that that were also very good. I think he’s feeling good about what he’s doing, about the way he’s preparing with his feel for all of his different pitches."
No Minnesota Twins pitcher has won this honor since Francisco Liriano did it in 2011, the week after he threw a no-hitter against the Chicago White Sox.
The Twins should be fun to watch all season, so at least one trip to Target Field should be priority this summer.
