Twins Announce Schedule Updates After Friday’s Game Rained Out
The Minnesota Twins had a their Friday night game in Detroit get rained out and they've announced changes to the schedule to make that game up, as well as Thursday's missed game.
The Minnesota Twins, in conjunction with the Detroit Tigers and Major League Baseball, have announced that Friday night's game at Comerica Park has been rescheduled as part of a traditional doubleheader at Target Field on Friday, September 4.
The originally-scheduled Twins-Tigers game on September 4, which was scheduled to begin at 7:10 p.m., will be moved up to 1:10 p.m. and will be game one of the doubleheader. The second game will begin no later than 45 minutes after the first one ends, with Detroit as the designated home team.
Also, the teams will make up the game missed on Thursday, August 27, by playing a traditional double header on Saturday, August 29, at Comerica Park. The first game is scheduled to start at 12:10 p.m. and will feature Randy Dobnak on the mound for the Twins while Twins batters will face Detroit starting pitcher Matthew Boyd.
Per the new Major League Baseball rules for the 2020 season, both games of all doubleheaders will be seven-inning contests.
The Twins currently sit in first place of the American League Central Division. After losing two out of three in Cleveland, they are clinging to a 1/2 game lead at the top of the division.
Minnesota will look for a strong finish to the season with key contributors Josh Donald, Byron Buxton, Mitch Garver and pitcher Michael Pineda all set to return to the lineup.
