Communities around the region are getting ready to celebrate America's birthday this coming week with a variety of events and fireworks shows. With everyone wanting to spend time outdoors for the quintessential summer holiday, we need to know if the weather will cooperate.

The big thing to know is that our recent summertime weather isn't really going anywhere anytime soon. There is no big cold snap in the forecast, which is very welcome news after a long, cool spring. While temperatures will be nice, will there be rain to contend with? Things don't actually look too bad!

Monday (July 1)

Sunny and warm is the name of the game to kick off the first day of July. A generally westward breeze means we won't see cooler conditions by the lake in Duluth, with daytime highs near 80 degrees in the Twin Ports.

Tuesday (July 2)

We'll see slightly cooler temperatures on Tuesday, but it will still be a very pleasant day. Partly cloudy conditions are expected with high temperatures near 75 degrees across the Twin Ports.

Wednesday (July 3)

Temperatures tick back up to 80 degrees again for "4th of July Eve", with partly cloudy conditions through the day making for a generally pleasant day. There is a slight chance of evening showers, but nothing that should completely ruin plans.

Thursday (July 4)

For the big day, it will be pretty pleasant once again. Partly cloudy conditions and a high near 75 degrees on top of the hill, and maybe a couple degrees cooler near the lake, but still should be a nice summer day. More good news - it doesn't look like there are an credible rain chances to worry about through the day and into the evening for area fireworks shows.

Friday (July 5)

Slightly cooler and scattered rain/thunderstorm chances come into the picture for Friday. We'll remain partly cloudy through the day with a high near or just above 70 degrees both near the lake and on top of the hill, with scattered shower or thunderstorm chances persisting through the day.

Saturday (July 6)

Rain chances wrap up in the early morning hours on Saturday, giving way to a partly cloudy and generally pleasant day. A slight lake breeze will make for temperatures near 70 degrees on top of the hill and around 67 near the lake.

Sunday (July 7)

We wrap up the holiday weekend with another dry, pleasant day. A mix of sun and clouds will be accompanied by temperatures near 72 on top of the hill and 68 near the lake, making for another pleasant day. There is a slight chance of some evening showers, but nothing to ruin any plans from the looks of things right now.
