Duluth, Get Ready: Snow Could Be Falling Before Halloween
Oh boy! This is a lot sooner than I expected. Fall is definitely in the air. In fact, I have been cold a few times on my way to work this past week. It felt pretty good after a very long, hot summer.
Now, there's a chill in the air and the leaves are already changing colors across the Northland, which means winter is upon us whether we like it or not. (No, this isn't dramatic. It can happen anytime around here!)

With winter comes absolutely freezing temperatures and tons of snow and when it starts, it always kicks off a very long and cold winter. So when will we get our first snow here?
If you believe in the methodology of the Old Farmer's Almanac, the answer is later this month - and not too far off from this very moment. Let's dive in.

The Old Farmer's Almanac Predicts October Snow For The Northland
I hope you have that snow shovel ready and your winter clothes in the front closet because snow is on the way this month, according to a new outlook from the Old Farmer's Almanac.

They always share a two-month outlook on the first of every month. Their outlook for the spookiest month of the year says we can expect snow sometime between October 7th and 17th. Ope! We will see 'periods of rain and snow' throughout the ten-day period and chilly conditions.

It's not abnormal for it to snow on Halloween but this seems a bit early! The good news is we will see sunshine and warmer temperatures from the 18th through the 27th, when rain and snow showers return to the forecast just in time for trick-or-treating.

It doesn't appear like a snowstorm is on the agenda for now, so that is also good news. The Old Farmer's Almanac has never shared their official formula, but they do make long-term weather predictions by region. Ours includes most of Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Happy winter? This is definitely the scariest thing about October so far. I'm not ready!
