Tuesday Was One Of The Snowiest November Days On Record

Winter is here in the Northland and I don't blame you if that made you shudder a bit.

November is the month where we really start our transition into winter and with that, comes snow. We have already had our fair share of snow this month, despite a warm streak that kicked things off.

It snowed in the Duluth area on Tuesday, November 10th, with snow totals ranging from a light dusting to about seven inches in Duluth. While this wouldn't seem too unusual for our area, it turns out it actually was one of the snowiest November days we have on record!

The National Weather Service of Duluth shared this news on their Facebook page shortly after, stating that it was one of the highest daily snowfall totals on record. In fact, it was the twentieth snowiest November day we've had in the area. You can see a list of our top thirty snowiest days below:

I am just glad that we did not see one of the top snowiest on record. Ha! Of course, the Halloween blizzard of 1991 holds the top spot and that is a record I am not trying to break.

The snowfall that landed us in the record books didn't seem like a bunch at the time but it did mark an abrupt return to winter, after seeing a warming trend from Halloween until the day before the snow fell. We even saw record-breaking temperatures in a few spots across the Northland. We will see what the rest of the month holds!
