Winter in the Twin Ports can be tough to get through if you don't really snowmobile or ice fish.  Daylight hours are reduced and that winter fatigue and blues can have an impact on how you feel.  There are plenty of activities you can participate in though that don't have to cost you a lot of money and are actually have health benefits by keeping you active.

UMD's Recreational Sports Outdoor Program is offering the chance to try a variety winter outdoors activities so you can get a feel for what you might like.  On Monday, January 18th, they are hosting their Winter outdoor Sampler.

The event is an opportunity to learn more about what they do and enjoy some winter fun.  There will be cross country skiing, fat tire biking, snowshoeing, and even snowman building.  To make it all even better, it's totally free to attend and all you have to do is show up between 1:00-4:00PM at the Bagley Nature Area in Duluth.  UMD will provide the equipment, instructors, and plenty of fun.

While it is free and the equipment is provided, you will need to make sure you bring appropriate clothing for the weather, a face covering, and sturdy shoes or boots.  You can get more information on this and other events put on by the program that promotes outdoor activities HERE.
