Target is getting creative with holiday shopping this year amid the global pandemic. They just announced their newest initiative for the busy end of the year season.

On Thursday (October 22), Target revealed that they would be rolling out "shopping by appointment" effective immediately. How it works is pretty simple. All you have to do is go to target.com/line and set your store location. From there, you can see if there is a line to get inside. If there is, you can reserve a spot and they will hold your place in line at that store.

In case you didn't know, Target, along with several other businesses, has been limiting the number of guests allowed in store at one time since April of 2020. As stores become increasingly more busy heading into the holidays, this tool will come in handy.

This isn't the only new initiative the store is implementing. Other new changes include contactless payment features and handheld checkout devices so you don't have to wait in long lines if you only have a few items. Target has also announced they are doubling the number of drive-up spots so more people can use it this holiday season.

The store also announced another new change this year amid the COVID-19 pandemic: they will not be open on Thanksgiving. They announced this news back in July, saying they would be rolling out special holiday deals as early as October this year and spread out throughout the holiday season instead. This helps cut down on big crowds.
