Target Announces Thanksgiving Plans For Stores Nationwide

Thanksgiving is fast approaching and retailers across the country continue to confirm their plans for the upcoming holiday.

In October, Walmart U.S. President and CEO John Furner announced they would continue their recent trend of closing all of Walmart stores on Thanksgiving. This marks the fourth consecutive year that Walmart will be closed on the holiday.

Furner released a video at that time to not only notify the public, but Walmart employees too, noting that he wanted them to spend that day at home with family and loved ones.

Earlier this month, Target CEO Brian Cornell issued a statement to notify everyone what the Thanksgiving plans would be for Target stores across the country.

In his statement released on Wednesday, November 8, Cornell confirmed that they would once again be closed on Thanksgiving, continuing a policy Target originally put into place in 2020 due to the pandemic.

He noted that being closed on Thanksgiving allows his team to spend the holiday making memories with their family. He added that it's the strength of his team that allows the store to close and customers won't miss a beat:

Keeping our stores closed on Thanksgiving is possible because we’ve built our team — and Target’s strong business model — to deliver on our guests’ holiday wishes both within and well beyond store hours. And we do an exceptional job meeting the demand during the busiest weeks in November and December, when so many of our guests turn out to shop.
