Holiday travel season is here and between shopping, social visits and trips, the roads will be busy. MnDOT wants to make sure everyone stays safe, especially when sharing the roads with snowplows.
We've had a few rounds of snow and there's obviously a lot more on the way, so now is a great time to make sure you're prepared for winter driving to help avoid accidents.
If you can remain calm while watching this video, there is something wrong with you. This string of accidents happened back in 2014 in Montana, and they are using it as a tool to teach drivers to slow down! Traffic whizzes by within inches of a woman who was ejected after an accident on GLARE ice roads.
Our first major winter storm is coming this weekend. Reports are varied, but it looks like it could be a significant snowfall event. This is a pretty big deal, considering this year we haven't even had much frost on the roads yet. It seems like every first snowfall of the year, people have to relearn how to drive safely in the snow. This quick video should help, especially younger drivers.

Just seeing the presence of snow plow usually makes me more cautious, they're out for a reason. Having to drive near one can be tricky and dangerous. The DOT is passing along some important information that should be shared and retained by all.
We have already had to put our Winter driving skills to the test with the latest couple of snow falls. It doesn't take much, does it?
MnDot reminds you to drive responsibly with these helpful tips:
According to Jena Pike with our news partners, the Northland's News Center, the City of Duluth will be ponying up more cash to keep us safe while we're battling winter driving. While I appreciate the concern, I hate that we have to put out such a phenomenal amount of money!
