On the heels of the tragedy in Parkland, Florida, the Superior Elementary Schools are holding a school crisis awareness forum on Wednesday March 28th.

We talk about school safety a lot, but there seems to be a lack of passion or awareness for distracted driving deaths of our teenagers.

With media coverage, Facebook, Twitter, and everything else, you would believe that mass shootings at schools were increasing at an alarming rate. That doesn't appear to be the case according to a new study that shows that schools are safer than ever.

There has reportedly been a shooting at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon, in which at least 10 people were killed, with some outlets reporting a death toll of as high as 15. The suspect is in custody. It's unclear if he or she was injured.

In one of the unlikeliest scenarios imaginable, the rabidly anti-gay rights group Westboro Baptist Church is blaming country superstar Carrie Underwood for the shootings at Sandy Hook elementary school in Connecticut. The group's spokesperson claimed via Twitter that Underwood's support of equal rights for same-sex marriage helped bring down God's wrath upon the innocent victims.

People my age have unfortunately grown up most of our lives with mass shootings in school since we were ourselves in school.  I remember Columbine well.  I was a high school student at the time.  That was very unsettling.  However, after this last shooting in Newtown, Conneticut, I have never felt so much pain associated with a shooting.

On Sunday nightI texted my Program Director.  I didn't know how to handle the Breakfast Club show Monday morning and the task of talking or not talking, or how much to talk about the shootings in Newtown, CT.  It was on my mind all weekend long...
