The 4th of July is a fantastic holiday.  It's summer, there's grilling, parades, dazzling fireworks and an all around good time.  Unfortunately, it continues until the wee hours of the morning.  If you're a person who has to work this morning, I'm sure you've probably had better nights sleep than last night.

I grew up on the range, right on Main Street in Biwabik, MN.  There were two holidays that really got you excited as a kid.  One was obviously Christmas, and the next was Independence Day.  I thought that everywhere celebrated The 4th of July like we did.  It wasn't until I grew up and moved away that I realized it wasn't as big of a deal in other places.

If you caught a glimpse of the Aerial Lift Bridge last Independence Day, you undoubtedly noticed the awesome patriotic lighting through the night. The folks behind the special lighting last year announced they will be doing it again this year.

Hopefully you had an awesome view of the fireworks this year, but nothing can beat the view from a drone flying into a fireworks display.

The Aerial Lift Bridge, one of Duluth's most iconic landmarks, went red, white, and blue for Independence Day; marking the latest instance in a series of different occasions the bridge has been bathed in light of different colors in recent years to commemorate different causes.

Fireworks lit the skies over the Twin Ports for 4th of July celebrations, but the Duluth Lift Bridge and Enger Tower offered patriotic light shows of their own. Red, white, and blue lights chased around Enger Tower Friday night, offering a cool and festive spectacle on the Duluth skyline.

Not only is it officially 4th Of July Weekend, it's also National Hot Dog Month.  This weekend alone, Americans will eat 150 million hot dogs, but just how is our favorite tube meat made?

Today is of course the day we celebrate our nation's independence, and here's to you getting to spend this holiday weekend with the people you love the most! I found this Crash Course video series that is a little silly, but it does share some interesting facts about the 4th Of July.  For example, did you know that July 2nd is actually a more significant date for America?

On Independence Day some people think of BBQ'd hamburgers and hot dogs, watermelon and corn on the cob.  Most think of the fireworks displays and parades that bring the entire community out to the streets.  If you're curious where you and you family can enjoy these festivities here's a few of the local ones I ran across to share.
