If you've driven Tower Avenue in Superior you've probably seen the multi-story building being constructed at North 11th Street, just up the street from the Palace Bar in what used to be an empty lot across the road. Unless you stopped to look at the sign, you've probably wondered what they're building. Well, it is a pair of new businesses that will share the new space.

The majority of the new building will be occupied by a Cobblestone Hotel & Suites, which already has a property in Superior under their other their sister brand Boarders, located on Susquehanna Avenue. not far from the foot of the Bong Bridge.

The new hotel, which has several locations across Wisconsin, will also feature a new casual dining establishment that offers some upscale charm.

The restaurant, Wissota Chophouse, will be the latest location for the chain of Wisconsin-based restaurants the company owns. Wissota Chophouse, named after Wissota Lake near Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, aims to be up to 7 locations in Wisconsin and one in Arizona by the end of 2022.

The company currently operates restaurants in hometown Chippewa Falls, Hartford, Janesville, Neenah, and Stevens Point. Their website says they will be opening the Superior location in 2021, along with locations in De Pere, WI and Wickenburg, AZ in 2022.

The pairing of Wissota Chophouse and Cobblestone Hotel & Suites is a commonality, with the restaurant's website explaining they opened their first restaurant in the Cobblestone in Chippewa Falls, and focus locations around hotels.

What are they known for? Their website says "succulent high-end steaks and rich sea food, a classy yet modern atmosphere for gathering and socialization, specials highlighting seasonal favorites, comforting sharables sure to please, innovative a la carte sides, and some of the finest desserts around."

They also offer over 20 types of wine and 20 beers on tap, along with other liquor options from the bar. They emphasize Wisconsin-brewed beer on tap, including beers from fellow Chippewa Falls-based business Leinenkugel Brewing.

While they don't have a menu for the Superior location posted yet, it is likely to be similar to that of the Chippewa Falls restaurant's menu. It features some premium cuts of meat, including a couple Wagyu beef cuts, ribeye, and porterhouse. They also offer a number of other steaks, chops, and burgers. Seafood options like prawns, lobster tails, and sea bass are also on the menu.

There is no firm opening date for either the hotel or the restaurant, but both companies anticipate opening later this year, once construction is completed.
