Superior Hosting Public Thank You At Wessman Arena Today

It's been a week since the Husky Refinery fire in Superior, and community leaders have come together to thank everyone who helped during the crisis.  It's a one hour program that starts at 5:30 at Wessman Arena, 2701 Catlin Avenue in Superior.

Those being recognized for their service include the Husky Emergency Response Team, Red Cross employees, City of Superior Bus Drivers, School Teachers, Assistants, Police Officers, and Firefighters. They will be thanked for their efforts in protecting the community and the sacrifices they made for the City of Superior and the residents.

Among those speaking will of course be Mayor Jim Paine of Superior, Fire Chief Steve Panger, Police Chief Nicholas Alexander and Superintendent Janna Stevens.

Mayor Jim Paine had this to say in the press release:

“It seems fitting to hold a community thank you to all who made sacrifices last week on International Firefighters’ Day, May 4th. Firefighters from Superior and the local area exemplified dedication, commitment and sacrifice last week. We are indebted to their dedication to our community. In addition, there were numerous individuals and organizations, included Husky Emergency Response Team, School District of Superior employees, and other Public Safety officers, who deserve to be celebrated.”

There will also be a chance to thank individuals personally following the presentation.
