Stellar Saturday Explores The Moon At UMD

The global pandemic has put a halt to a lot of activities that normally would have happened this year.  Fortunately, many events have been able to slowly start to happen again by implementing social distancing guidelines.  UMD is offering the opportunity for an educational experience that will also help keep the kids busy.

Stellar Saturday has been given the all clear to happen at UMD, outside of the planetarium.  This event gives kids and families the opportunity to explore the Earth's Moon.  Staff from UMD's Planetarium will be giving out activity kits that kids can take home.  They will also be raffling off a book called "50 Things to See on the Moon".

With the kit being sent home, kids will have the opportunity to learn about the Moon's features, design and build a rocket and lunar lander, and create their own moon rocks.  For picking up the kits, guests need to wear masks and follow social distancing protocols.  The event will have a drive-up option too if you want to go that route, however if you do attend in person, there is a one-way walking path for pick-up.  While it's free to grab a kit, donations will also be accepted to help them put on future educational events.  The event is on Saturday, October 3rd, from 1:00PM-3:00PM.  UMD Marshall W. Alworth Planetarium is located at 1023 University Drive, in Duluth.
