A portion of 40th Avenue West is scheduled to be reconstructed in 2026. The meeting will allow people to share their thoughts on new ideas for the section. They want to hear feedback on the driving lane configuration, the intersection at Grand Avenue, the railroad crossing, on-street parking, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, and landscaping of the area.

That's the segment that is under the St. Louis County jurisdiction. From Grand Avenue to I-35 is managed by the City of Duluth. The city does not have a project planned at this time, but city staff is participating in the discussion so that when funding becomes available the layout will be complimentary with the county road segment.

The meeting will be on Monday, January 29, at 6 PM at the Denfeld High School in the West Commons area. People can attend in person or join virtually online.

St. Louis County encourages anyone who lives in or travels through the area to get involved by attending the meeting - whether it be in person or virtually.

40th Avenue West is one of the main arteries for traffic connecting Miller Trunk Highway to West Duluth, I-35, and Duluth. You can find more information about the product on the St. Louis County Public Works Department project page.
