Northland communities and agencies affected by COVID-19 are invited to apply for funding as part of St. Louis County's 2020 allocation of funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The funding comes as part of St Louis County's role as an entitlement entity for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funding.  The open application process runs through June 22 at 4:30 PM.

In total, qualifying communities and agencies an apply for their share of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act funding totaling $1,164, 632 for CDBG-CV and $578,797 for ESG-CV.  Application and use of the funding for activities is subjetc to the existing federal regulations for each program.   In addition, it must also address planning for, responding to, or preventing the coronavirus and can be applied for by eligible communities and agencies within St. Louis County.  The funding is not available for applicants within the City of Duluth; Duluth will receive it's own separate CDBG-CV and ESG-CV funding.

According to St. Louis County, a recent public input session/survey - conducted in late April through late May - gathered 386 responses; those comments and input will be used to help the county identify needs and award funds in relation to COVID-19.  The county also garnered strong stakeholder repsonses.
