Spoon’s Bar And Grill In Lincoln Park Suffered Damage in Fire Overnight
The Duluth Fire department was dispatched to Spoon's Bar and Grill last night with a report of flames being seen coming out of the building. WDIO reports that: "Firefighters found flames coming from the back of the building through a ventilation duct and were also seen through a glass block window in the rear of the building."
Thankfully there were not any people inside the building when the fire broke out. Damage is estimated at $75,000 and the fire is under investigation. This is so hard to hear this news as I am friends with the owner Solomon Witherspoon and I know how hard he and his staff have been working to get the place ready to go and open.

Solomon has even been known to grab the old chefs hat and help out on the grill for their delicious ribs or help out the cooks in the kitchen too. This place in the short time it has been open has brought new life to the neighborhood (replacing the old Mitch's Bar) but offered more than just delicious food. Everyone makes you feel like family, the food is fantastic and the ambiance is amazing too.
With a stage set up you know the place is filled with music whenever they can, they have also hosted meat raffles, trivia nights, even a night for singles in the community to meet up and have a good time. This place is truly a vital part of Duluth and the Northland. I am sure that they will come back stronger than ever, and by looking at the comments on the Spoon's Facebook Page, not only are they taking this setback with a sense of humor, but many of the comments were people asking how they can help. That is what we do around here, we look out for each other so we all stay strong and are united!
