Setting The Record Straight: Tourist’s Bad Trip Advisor Reviews For Famous Duluth Restaurants
We love our restaurants in Duluth and we often bring our friends from out of town to these places so they can get the best of Duluth. But sometimes, out of town people have ridiculous expectations or just "don't get it" when it comes to our favorite places. Let me set the record straight for these bad reviews.
Grandma's Saloon Is Too "Touristy."
Oh Sandra G, where do we begin. First off, it is supposed to be a tourist place. It's a tourist area. We like the stupid little decorations in Grandma's. That's why people go there! The salmon didn't make you sick, dear. Food poisoning takes more than just an hour or two for you to get sick.
Also we aren't in Minneapolis. Somehow you traveled from Duluth to Minneapolis in one paragraph. I'm confused.
Sammy's Pizza is "Too Soggy And Floppy."
Obviously it's terrible pizza if it's been around for 50 some years. No, if you're from around here you know that Sammy's pizza is soggy and floppy. That's how we like it! It's saucy, spicy, and greasy goodness always comes that way, and that's how we like it.
None of the Staff At Pizza Luce knows what hunger feels like.
If this was true, I'm sure it was a pretty bad deal. Mistakes happen at places. But Hdawgyooooo from Winnipeg, I'm sure that someone at the staff has been through a time when they were hungry. That just made me laugh. Besides, looking at your profile pic it looks like you probably would have scared the pizza delivery guy away when you answered the door. Are you laughing, crying, eyeing up a burrito, or got caught in the middle of a sneeze?
We small town folk in the Midwest don't know good food says the Olive Garden snob.
Snob alert! Look, if you go to Bellisio's you know you're going to be paying more money around here. It's a fancy, upscale restaurant. The food is fantastic though. Just about everyone agrees. Then to say that Olive Garden is better is pretty far-fetched. Not to mention, if you have such high standards being from the DC area, what the heck are you doing eating at Olive Gardens anyway?
Anchor Bar - Superior. "It's A Dive."
I know this isn't a Duluth restaurant but it's in the Twin Ports and this is just too good to pass up.
Pam, I don't know how to take this review. You start off saying it's a dive. Which they even know it's a dive. That's the point. Next, why is your son sending you to a burger place if you're a vegetarian? Of course they are going to snort when you ask for a veggie burger at the Anchor Bar. But what confuses me is the end where you say it was a great time we had with family and the new friends that you met. But you gave it 1 star? What?
