PHOTOS: Country Legend Sammy Kershaw Headlines Night Of Music In Two Harbors
This weekend was a very busy one in the Northland. While the Twin Ports area was wrapping up its 'Downtown Duluth Days' with a street dance over the weekend and the Duluth Airshow taking to they sky throughout the weekend, Two Harbors also celebrated its annual Heritage Days community celebration.
The annual four-day celebration is held the Thursday through Sunday after the 4th of July, with a lot of stuff going on through the course of the long weekend.
Going along with a multi-day arts & crafts show, parades, pancake breakfast, medallion hunt, and a whole bunch of other activities, the annual Friday night street dance has been a huge draw over the last few years.
Over the last couple of years, legendary country music act The Bellamy Brothers has been the headlining act of a whole night of music that has drawn what has to be easily well over a thousand people to a two-block stretch along First Street, with the stage right next to Castle Danger Brewery.

This year, however, event organizers brought in a legendary 90s country voice as their free street dance headliner, the one and only Sammy Kershaw. He was joined by opening acts Ricky Carl and Rafe Carlson, both of which have been annual stapes at the Two Harbors Street Dance.

Ricky Carl Band kicked off the live music at 6 pm, playing a bunch of country music covers and some originals to get the party started.
Another local act, Rafe Carlson, was next up for the evening, leaning heavily into his catalog of originals, though he did play some crowd-favorite covers as well that included a Toby Keith classic and his rendition of the Gordon Lightfoot classic 'The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald' - which you might say is kind of fitting, just a couple of blocks from Lake Superior.

Sammy Kershaw capped off the night, playing a bunch of his classics, sharing a couple deeper cuts, and telling a few stories along the way about his storied career and all of the true legends he had the honor of knowing. This included the icon George Jones, of which Kershaw played a couple of different covers.

The large crowd was mighty pleased, singing and dancing along through the evening, with the show wrapping up after 11 pm on Friday night.
