Reflecting On My First St. Jude Radiothon
When I first started my job at B105, I heard a lot about St. Jude. Everyone at the station is super passionate about the cause and I had been counting down the days until our first radiothon in support. We had our annual radiothon Thursday and Friday and it was more than I ever could have expected.
I didn't know exactly what to expect but the second we started, I knew it was going to be a tough but amazing two days. Over the course of the 24 hours we were on air, I heard so many amazing, devastating and inspiring stories about patients at St. Jude and their families. It really puts everything into perspective.
I was also blown away by how many amazing people across the Northland called in to donate. There really are so many selfless and kind individuals in the world and it made me speechless to know I get to live in the same area as so many of them.
Everyone that works at St. Jude is so passionate, including the reps that put on the event. They truly love what they do and want to help as many people as possible. They never lost steam or wore anything but a smile during the two-day period and kept everyone's spirits high when we started to get a bit tired. I am grateful I work somewhere that teams up with an organization like this.
After visiting the hospital last month and seeing it for myself, I was even more excited to help raise money for the kids and patients there. (You can read about my experience here.) I am grateful to have had the chance to take part in it and am already counting down until next year.
Thanks to all the businesses that supported our efforts and to every single person who donated and became a Partner In Hope.
