Keep your family safe, it really just takes common sense.  Car break-ins and auto theft may have peaked over the holidays,  local authorities are offering some sound advice on how you can avoid becoming a victim.

Over the past couple of months the Duluth Police Department has seen an increase in auto

thefts. In a majority of the thefts, the victims have left their vehicles unlocked with the keys in

the counsel.

The Duluth Police Department would like to remind citizens to use common sense when

parking and exiting your vehicle:

Always take your key, don’t leave it in or on your vehicle.

Always close and lock all windows and doors when you park.

Park in well-lit areas.

Always keep you vehicle in your garage, if possible.

Never leave valuables in your vehicle, especially where they can be seen.

If you have any information about auto thefts in the Duluth area, please contact the Duluth

Police Department Property Crimes Unit at (218) 730-5160.
