If you couldn't make the original "Dig in the Downtown Waterfront" planting date (June 5), you are in luck!  Because of snow, oops, (that delayed Spring cleaning in downtown Duluth), I mean rain, the date to plant the annual flowers has been moved to Thursday, June 6 and volunteers are welcome and needed!  Grab your planting gloves and join in on the fun!!

Whether you have a green thumb or not, the Greater Downtown Council is in need of  volunteers to help plant flowers for the Downtown Waterfront on Thursday, June 6, beginning at 10am.

A delivery to Bayfront Park from Engwall’s will arrive Thursday morning with colorful crates of annual flowers.  Approximately 150 streetscape planters are stored at Bayfront’s parking lot, just waiting for helping hands to fill them with flowers.  After the flowers are planted, City crews will move the planters to the sidewalks of the Downtown Waterfront to be enjoyed this summer.  Many thanks to The Greater Downtown Council’s Clean & Safe Team who will maintain them throughout the summer season.

There are about 60 volunteers who are willing to lend a hand to help beautify the Downtown Waterfront, but more volunteers are always welcome.  Remember to bring gardening tools and gloves if you have them.

Following the work project, volunteers will be treated to a free lunch provided by the Inn on Lake Superior.
See you there!
