Over 43,000 Pounds Of Ground Beef Recalled Including In Wisconsin

More than 43,000 pounds of ground beef has been recalled nationwide including in Wisconsin due to hard pieces of plastic found in the meat. The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) said the recall involves ground beef produced on March 20.

The recall was initiated after 2 complaints to the FSIS after pieces of hard green plastic were found in the product. The FSIS is concerned that many consumers may have the ground beef in their freezers so they are asking everyone to check all ground beef before they consume it to make sure it is not part of the recalled meat. They are urging people to dispose of the meat or to bring it back to the place of purchase for a refund.

1-lb. plastic wrapped ground beef loaf with “fresh from Meijer GROUND BEEF 85% LEAN 15% FAT” with case code 47285 and sell by date of 4/10/2019 represented on the label.
1-lb. plastic wrapped ground beef loaf with “fresh from Meijer GROUND BEEF 90% LEAN 10% FAT” with case code 47290 and sell by date of 4/10/2019 represented on the label.
1-lb. plastic wrapped ground beef loaf with “LEAN GROUND BEEF” with case code 42093 and sell by date of 4/10/2019 represented on the label.
1-lb. plastic wrapped ground beef loaf with “CERTIFIED GROUND SIRLOIN” with case code 42090 and sell by date of 4/10/2019 represented on the label.
