After a year where both the Minnesota and Wisconsin State Fairs were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it sounds like both will be returning this year. We learned earlier this week that plans are proceeding with the Minnesota State Fair for the end of August and into September, and now we're hearing similar news for the Badger State's big annual summer fair.

Organizers for the Wisconsin State Fair shared via an officials statement on their website that the fair is officially on for 2021.

The statement opens with a note that officials "are excited to announce the 170th Wisconsin State Fair will take place in accordance with health guidelines at the time of the Fair", which is scheduled for Thursday, August 5 through Sunday, August 15, 2021.

Wisconsin State Fair officials shared back in January that they had set a goal of holding the fair in 2021 after not being able to hold the event last year. While organizers are announcing this week that the fair will be happening, they did note that they will be operating under whatever the current health and safety guidelines that will be in effect during the fair in August.

While specifics on those health and safety guidelines will become more clear in the coming weeks and months, one thing is clear. The fair's organizers are excited to welcome people back.

Wisconsin State Fair Park CEO Kathleen O’Leary shared in the statement the following comments:

We are happy to confirm there are WonderFair days ahead and are excited to safely gather to celebrate everything we are so proud of in Wisconsin. We look forward to making many exciting announcements in the weeks to come!

While the release noted there would be a number of additional announcements on things for this year's fair, their website does note that some of the fair's entertainment has already been announced. Some of the acts already listed on their website include:

  • Boyz II Men with Ginuwine
  • Chris Young
  • Brothers Osbourne
  • Skillet
  • The Beach Boys

There will be more entertainment announcements in the coming weeks via their website.
