OMC Smokehouse, Vitta Pizza In Duluth Temporarily Closed
Two more popular restaurants in Duluth are temporarily closed after an employee in each spot tested positive for COVID-19.
OMC Smokehouse and Vitta Pizza are closed until further notice. Both restaurants announced the news on their respective Facebook pages Sunday (September 6th).
Of the closure, OMC Smokehouse wrote the following:
Effective immediately, we have made the decision to close until further notice due to an employee testing positive for Covid-19. The last shift worked by our staff member was Thursday, September 3rd. Once we received their positive results, we immediately closed. We very much value the safety and trust of our team and customers, and have and will continue to uphold all protocols recommended and required by the CDC and the State of MN Health Department.
There is no word on when they are planning on reopening. In the meantime, they say they will be bringing in a professional cleaning service to deep clean and sanitize the restaurant. The popular spot is located in Lincoln Park's craft district.
Vitta Pizza, located in Canal Park, also addressed the closure of their restaurant, writing:
We were notified [...] that an employee who worked Thursday September 3 tested positive for Covid-19. Our thoughts & prayers are to the employee for a quick recovery! Our employees wear masks their entire shift & temperatures are taken at the start of every shift. Though we feel confident the virus has not spread among our staff we are temporarily closing to assess exposure & test exposed staff. Grazie for your support during this time.
OMC Smokehouse and Vitta Pizza are just a few restaurants out of many that have had to temporarily close due to COVID-19. For example, the Duluth Grill had to close for a short time back in August after an employee tested positive for COVID-19.
