The signs are already in place to alert drivers:  The Oliver Bridge will be closing to traffic for another round of inspections in the coming week.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation - who is passing along the details for the CN Railroad, the closure will occur over a three day period - Wednesday, September 21 through Friday, September 23.  Similar to how the inspections have happened in the recent-past, the closure will happen during the daytime hours of 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM each of the scheduled days.

The Oliver Bridge - which crosses the St. Louis River at the junction of Highway 39 and Wisconsin Highway 105 in Gary New-Duluth, Minnesota and Oliver, Wisconsin, is owned and operated by the CN Railroad.  They have railroad tracks that cross over on the elevated level above the vehicle lanes.

CN and MNDOT officials assure drivers that the Oliver Bridge will not close early on any of the scheduled days; while work crews may be on site earlier, the bridge itself will not close to traffic each of the days until 8:00 AM. At the same time, all equipment will be removed at the end of each day so that the bridge can be reopened to traffic by 4:30 PM.

There are already changeable message signs in place on both sides of the bridge to alert drivers about the upcoming daytime closures.  Those signs will remain in place until the inspection work is completed.

This inspection interval represents the second round for this summer.  The Oliver Bridge saw daytime closures for a week in early August.
