Old Farmer’s Almanac: July Will Be Warm & Rainy In Duluth
A new month is here and July is typically the best summer season in the Twin Ports! It is warm and filled with sunshine and feels like an official kickoff to summer, especially the fourth of July weekend.
With July now here, it is time to take a look at what the Old Farmer's Almanac is forecasting for the month ahead. As always, you have to take things with a grain of salt, as they make long-term weather forecasts by region.
Some don't believe in their methodology and others do. Whichever side you fall on in this instance, you can't deny that it is fun to look at their forecasts ahead of the month and after to see how they did, right?
Now, with the best summer month ahead of us, it is time to look ahead and see what we can expect in the Duluth and Superior area. The Old Farmer's Almanac has broken down their forecast, dividing the month into small periods.
A Fourth Of July Forecast For The Twin Ports
So what is the Old Farmer's Almanac forecasting for the month ahead? For the first nine days of the month, it will be warm with periods of scattered thunderstorms over sunshine for the most part.
This is a bit of a bummer, considering the fourth of July weekend is a big outdoor holiday. Everyone takes to a boat or a campsite to celebrate the long holiday weekend and soak in as much sunshine as possible.
The National Weather Service of Duluth says temperatures will be normal for this time of the year but rain will move in later into the holiday weekend. You may even mistake thunder for some fireworks at some point during the weekend!
What About The Rest Of The Month In Our Region?
From July 10th through the 13th, sunshine will return with hot temperatures. Temperatures will remain warm from the 14th of the month through the 20th but thunderstorm activity will dominate over sunshine once again.
Rounding out the rest of the month? Thunderstorms and cooler temperatures. Our average temperature for July in our region is just under seventy degrees, which doesn't seem that warm, according to the Old Farmer's Almanac. Precipitation will vary depending on which part of the region you are in.
How Did The Old Farmer's Almanac Do In June?
Last month, the Old Farmer's Almanac told Northlanders to prepare for a warm but rainy month. While we did see warmer temperatures than the month prior, we didn't get as much rain we truly need in the Duluth area.
Hopefully, we can make up for it in July. According to the Old Farmer's Almanac, we are in for a wet month ahead which makes it a pretty good bet. Until next month!
