Old Dominion Gets Curling Lesson From Olympian John Shuster, Then Shines On Stage In Duluth
On Saturday night, live country music at long last returned to AMSOIL Arena when Old Dominion brought their No Bad Vibes Tour to Duluth.
I had a blast at the show, not only because I had the opportunity to talk with a lot of great B105 listeners in our suite, but because Old Dominion was a highlight of the Kenny Chesney Here and Now Tour last summer at U.S. Bank Stadium and I knew they'd bring that same fun energy to AMSOIL Arena.
Old Dominion didn't disappoint, and I'll touch more on the show in a bit, but before they took the stage, the Nashville-based band took something I think everyone touring through Duluth from now on will want to take: Curling lessons from Olympic champion John Shuster.
The Duluth Entertainment Convention Center shared a brief video of the lesson Saturday on their Facebook page.
After spending the day in Duluth, the band was ready to take the stage. Opening for Old Dominion were Shawn Austin, Greylan James, Kassi Ashton, and Frank Ray, all rising country stars who are standouts at the Whiskey Jam in Nashville.
Then it was time for Old Dominion to bring good vibes to a packed AMSOIL Arena. Just as they did opening for Kenny Chesney, the affable band brought a lot of fun as they delivered their impressive number of hits, most of which had the crowd noticeably singing along.
Here is the setlist from the No Bad Vibes Tour:
- Freedom Like You
- Make It Sweet
- No Hard Feelings
- Break up with Him
- Never Be Sorry
- Written in the Sand
- Sangria / A Guy Walks Into a Bar / Say You Do / Better Dig Two / Wild Hearts / Make You Miss Me (medley of songs members of the band have written for others)
- Snapback
- Hotel Key
- Memory Lane
- One Man Band
- Song for Another Time
- Aint Got a Worry in the World
- As It Was (Harry Styles Cover)
- Can't Get You
- Save It for a Rainy Day (Kenny Chesney cover)
- My Heart Is a Bar
- Nowhere Fast
- I Was on a Boat That Day
During the show, the band mentioned how they loved being in Duluth four years ago and how much they appreciate all the love the band has received from Minnesota in general.
The band was tight, the vocals were spot on and Old Dominion was a perfect way to bring live country music back to AMSOIL Arena.
Hopefully, this starts a trend of having more live music be consistently brought to Duluth. Based on the crowd's reaction Saturday night, everyone is more than ready.
