Northern Minnesota Town Shatters Cold Record Thursday

It was a chilly morning to live in Hibbing Thursday! The Northern Minnesota town was so cold (February 20th) that they shattered a record.

WDIO Meteorologist Taylor Dayton shared the news on Facebook shortly after the record was broken. That happened around 7:30 in the morning as the town hit a low of 32 below.

This shattered the old daily record for this day in history, which was set at 25 below. That record was set in 1966. Take a look at his infographic below:

Hibbing is located about an hour from Duluth.

By the way - if you think that it is warmer than usual this winter, you're right! The National Weather Service of Duluth just released some statistics from the 2019-2020 winter season. According to their research, this winter has trended generally warmer.

This may be hard to believe considering Hibbing just broke a record low but maybe this just means spring is on the way!
