If you're a Wells Fargo customer and you get a text message claiming there is a problem with your account, do not follow through on what that text instructs you to do.

The Duluth Police Department is reporting says that a number people in the area have received fraudulent text messages claiming there is a problem with their Wells Fargo account.

The messages are coming from 218792@verizonx.com, directing recipients to call (248) 556-7029.  If you call this number, you will be prompted to provide personal data like social security numbers, bank account information, and other data. The Duluth Police remind the public it is never a good idea to give personal information over the phone unless you initiated the call with a trusted person or business.

If you ever have receive a call, e mail, or text claiming to be from your bank, it's always a good idea to call your bank locally and tell them about it.  They will should be able to confirm if it's legitimate or not.
