Neighborhood Youth Services, or NYS, started in 1992 as a place of hope, belonging, and opportunity for Duluth's youth.  It's a totally volunteer resource that gives kids a safe place to play, learn, and connect with others in the community.  The goal is to help strengthen families and help to reduce the risk factors that build up and contribute to juvenile delinquency.  NYS is focused on helping the youth within the Central Hillside and neighboring areas.

To help out with the upcoming school year, NYS is hosting a free back to school BBQ, which you can eat there or take to-go.  In addition, they will be giving away backpacks filled with school supplies for those in need.  This all ties in with their mission of showing kids, parents, and guardians that they are not alone in the fight to live a healthy and balanced life.  Things are stressful enough for parents when kids go back to school and having a nice supply of items at no cost to start off the school year, certainly can help.

The back to school BBQ is on Saturday, August 28th, from 1:00PM-4:00PM.  It's at 310 North, First Avenue West in Duluth.  While it is free to attend, they do request that you RSVP so they know how many people will be attending, and how much to prepare.  You can do that HERE.  If you have any more questions about the upcoming event you can also call 218-623-6474
