It's National Police Week, a week to remember officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving their communities, and the Duluth Police Department is doing just that.

In 1962 President Kennedy proclaimed May 15 as National Peace Officers Memorial Day and the calendar week in which May 15 falls, as National Police Week.

Here's hoping we never have to add any Northland law enforcement members to any such list in the future.

With law enforcement, nurses and medical professionals, teachers, essential workers, etc.  We have so many amazing people to be thankful for, people who often put others ahead of themselves.

I personally think it's important not to take those who serve us for granted.  Thank you for keeping the Northland safe and moving forward.
