My Wife Loves Target, But Sends Me To Walmart – Who Are The ‘Target’ + ‘Walmart’ People In Your Home?
Is it like this in your house? It's a common known fact that women absolutely love Target. My wife goes all the time. I am convinced that it is sometimes more of an event for her rather than a necessity. Rarely does she take the kids with her to Target, because that would not be the same experience as just getting to shop around and sniff candles and feel towels or whatever my wife does.
I like Target too. In fact I worked at Target in high school (shoutout to Target store 847!). But let's be honest. It seems like Target is geared more for women shopping, or moms shopping for their kids and an occasional piece of clothing to pick up for their husbands.
Here's the thing though, there's some stuff that Target doesn't have. They don't have the same collection of things that Walmart has in some departments, like automotive, hardware, sporting equipment, outdoor sets, etc. Inevitably there will be something that we need to get from Walmart and my wife sends me on the trip.
To be clear, I'm not bashing Walmart, but it is clearly a different experience than target. Check out this hilarious video if you don't know what I mean.
I know we aren't the only relationship like this, right? A new development in the last couple of years have been pick up orders. Any Walmart pick up order I am sent on that errand. It's turning into the new role for husbands. In LGBTQ couples is there a person that takes on the Target or Walmart role?
I'm not bitter about being the Walmart shopper in our household by default. I know my way around a Walmart now better than target, and I used to work at Target. To be honest I think it's been at least a couple of years since I set foot in Target, because my wife always eagerly volunteers for that one errand.
Also, kudos to both Walmart & Target for offering their employees tuition payment plans. Way to go.
