A fresh fruit and cheese platter sold at a popular Minnesota-based coffee shop is involved in a recall.  Cut Fruit Express of Inver Grove Heights has issued a voluntary recall of their product that's sold under the Caribou Coffee Fruit and Cheese Plate name due to the potential for Listeria Monocytogenes contamination.

The recall is connected to an earlier recall on Brie Cheese by a supplier; the cheese is used on the fresh fruit and cheese plates sold at Caribou Coffee.

According to details shared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the recall has been issued under an abundance of caution; at this point there have been no known reports of illness or medical issues directly connected to the Cut Fruit Express or Caribou Coffee products.

The recalled product item was sold in 6.2 ounce clear containers.  It includes "USED BY DATES" of 9/30/2022, 10/2/2022, 10/4/2022, 10/7/2022, and 10/9/2022.  The U.S. FDA reports that the fruit and cheese plates were distributed from Caribou Coffee Stores at the Minneapolis-St. Pau Airport locations.

Listeria infections can be serious - especially for with underlying medical conditions (like a weakened immune system).  The FDA reports that "[a]lthough healthy individuals may suffer only short term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea".  More serious complications can involve miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.

Customers who believe that they have the recalled product in their possession should "destroy the product".  You can also return it to the store from where it was purchased for a complete and full refund.
